Approach

Susan McLeod takes a holistic approach toward visitor experience planning. Susan is strategic and pragmatic, and liaises closely with the client and stakeholders first to identify goals and objectives and then to facilitate the development of creative solutions. She knows that the enjoyment of place is influenced by a variety of factors, including travel motivations, interest and knowledge. She knows that people want opportunities to learn, see and do that will help enrich their understanding of the world.

Susan makes it her business to track market forces and success stories, along with best practices. She understands that tourism destinations succeed when the visitor is central to planning and when a strong, engaging narrative drives the delivery. At the same time, she appreciates the need to balance the interests and expectations of the visitor with the protection of the cultural or natural resource at the heart of the destination.

Ultimately, the experience of a place is highly personal. Susan’s goal with the client is to make available a menu of opportunities from which visitors may choose and, in so doing, enable each of them to construct their own personally fulfilling and memorable experience of that special place.
